How to play

How Freehit works

Freehit is a Cricket World Cup draft challenge. Each turn draws one national squad from one tournament year. Pick one player to join your XI. Repeat until all 11 slots are filled, then simulate your campaign.

Roll a World Cup squad

Get a random nation and year — India 2011, Australia 2003, West Indies 1979. The draw is random and the uncertainty is the point.

Pick one player

Choose one cricketer who fits an open slot in your formation. Ratings visible in Classic mode, hidden in Blind Mode.

Simulate the campaign

When all 11 slots are filled, simulate your World Cup campaign — group stage, knockouts, final.

Common questions

What is Freehit?

A free Cricket World Cup draft game where you build a mixed-era XI from legends across all 13 tournaments (1975–2023).

Why are ratings per-tournament?

Because Sachin's 2003 WC (673 runs, Player of Tournament) was completely different from his 2007 WC (64 runs, group exit). Ratings reflect what a player actually did in that specific World Cup.

Can a WK bat anywhere?

Yes. Gilchrist opens, Sangakkara bats at #3, Dhoni bats at #5. WKs are flexible across batting positions.

Can all-rounders fill batting or bowling slots?

Yes. Stokes can fill a top-order slot. Jadeja can fill the spin slot. All-rounders are the most flexible picks in the draft.
